Comedy Central did a The Ben Stiller Show marathon today as a vehicle to promote Ben Stiller's new movie. I used to watch the show when it originally aired, but I only caught two episodes today.

For those that don't remember, Bob Odenkirk was one of the cast members, and David Cross was a writer and made appearances as well.

Do any of you remember the show and any of Bob's material that made it to Mr. Show? You can definately tell Bob's material from Ben Stiller's, Andy Dick's, and Jeanine Garofalo's. Example, "High Tech Hillbilly" looks like Bob material. Also "Manson" looks like Bob's writing; plus the father character is named Van Hammersly.

I was a big fan of the show when it aired. Still waiting for the DVD.

It's clear to me that Bob was heavily involved in the T.J. O'Pootertoot's (sp?) sketch. My only reasoning is that F.F. Woodycook's Ice Cream Precinct is reminiscent of that sketch.

Manson is classic. :D

Ever notice that one senator in the episode with Skank and the Metallica/Pauly shore movie/music video is alot like Senator Tankerbell?

for those of you that hadn't heard/don't know:
the ben stiller show dvd which was supposed to be released in june and then got indefinitely delayed, but now is slated to be released on december 2nd. ben stiller mentioned this while on jimmy kimmell live and it was also reported on tvshowsondvd.com.
the site also mentioned that the initial m.s.r.p. of $35 has been dropped to $27. in addition two the 12 episodes aired on fox and the "lost episode" (which has since been seen on fx and comedy central), the dvd deleted scenes, outakes, a featurette, a tv special, unspecified eastereggs and audio commentary. no word on who participated in the commentary, so i don't know if bob (or david, since he was a writer) will be on the commentaries.

Ben Stiller, Andy Dick, John F. Donahue, Bob Odenkirk, Janeane Garafalo, David Cross, and John Fortenberry will do commentary.

Fortenberry will do commentary on the episodes he directed, and Cross will do commentary on 10 episodes. The others do commentary for all episodes.

And did you ever notice that the name Van Hammersly was used for a character in the Ben Stiller Show before Mr. Show? I guess before he became a world famous Billiards champ, he played the father on the Lassie spoof featuring Manson.
